 What was meant to be a romantic honeymoon turned into a chilling nightmare in Meghalaya as a newlywed couple’s vacation ended in tragedy. The husband was found murdered under mysterious circumstances, while the wife has gone missing, sending shockwaves through the region.

The couple, who had arrived in Meghalaya just days ago to celebrate their honeymoon, were last seen checking into a popular resort near Cherrapunji, a tourist hotspot known for its breathtaking waterfalls and scenic beauty. According to local authorities, the husband’s body was discovered by resort staff early Tuesday morning in a nearby forested area, bearing signs of a violent struggle.

Police sources confirmed that the man, aged 29, had sustained multiple stab wounds. His identification was confirmed through hotel records and a mobile phone found near the scene. The wife, also in her twenties, has been untraceable since the incident, and her disappearance has raised serious concerns about her safety.

Authorities have launched a massive search operation with the help of local police, forest officials, and search dogs. Drones are also being deployed to scan the dense terrain. "We are treating this as a suspected case of murder and abduction, but all angles are being investigated," said Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills, in a press briefing.

Friends and family of the couple, who are from Uttar Pradesh, have been contacted and are expected to arrive in Meghalaya shortly. The family of the deceased is demanding a full and swift investigation.

The incident has sent ripples across tourist circuits, with several visitors expressing concern over safety. The Meghalaya Tourism Department has assured tourists of tightened security and full cooperation in the investigation.
